Fran Seikaly uses only 4 colors, to create her landscape oil paintings! The painting on display in the Woods Gallery show her exploration of the Anders Zorn limited palette and the color variations that are possible. Come and explore “The Land of Zorn,” and see what she has created using Yellow Ochre, Vermillion, White and Lamp Black. You can see more of her work at the following link: https://fsrealart.com
Terri O’Brien is a pastel artist and is showing 11 of her pastels from her “City of Detroit” series. She uses soft pastels on sanded papers. The “Stone Soap Building,” shown here is referenced from a photo the artist took when she lived across from this building, built in 1892. Slated to be converted to condominiums, the building is the former factory of the Stone Soap Company, located at 1490 Franklin Street, near Atwater in Detroit’s Rivertown district. Stone Soap, invented soaps for carwashes, still produced today, and was the last company to use this site commercially.
