Artist’s Statement

The Landscape paintings reflect my world travels while others try to capture regional areas.

(A detail of “Serengeti,” one in a series of three, and “Ngorongoro Crater,” one of a series of two, are shown)

The paintings of living plants are about seeing the shapes and colors in of our fragile environment, like after a storm that tatters the leaves and changes the colors.

(“Autumn” and “Really Green” are shown )

The abstract work is just about color and shape and playful spaces. Some have the inclusion of handmade paper for texture.

Yes, this is a lot, and yes sometimes I tend to jump in different directions,

How lucking I am to have the freedom to do this………

I will close with the following quote by Robert Henri…..

“When the artist is alive in any person, whatever his kind of work may be, he becomes an inventive, searching, daring, self-expressive creature. He becomes interesting to other people. He disturbs, upsets, enlightens, and opens ways for better understanding. Where those who are not artists are trying to close the book, he opens it and shows there are still more pages possible.”
